Pair uncovered cards to make thirteen
Pyramid solitaire lays twenty-eight cards in seven overlapping rows. The remaining twenty-four form the stock. Clear every card in the pyramid to win; you do not need to remove the whole stock.
An Ace is worth one, Jack eleven, Queen twelve and King thirteen. Suits and colors do not affect a match. Tap two available cards that total thirteen, or remove an available King with one tap.
All six pairs
Ace + Queen, 2 + Jack, 3 + 10, 4 + 9, 5 + 8, and 6 + 7. A King needs no partner.
Which cards are available?
A pyramid card is uncovered only when neither of the two cards immediately below it remains. Removing one covering card is not enough. The bottom row starts uncovered; removing neighboring bottom cards opens the row above.
You can pair two uncovered pyramid cards, or an uncovered pyramid card with the top waste card. Spider FreeCell does not allow a pair made only from two waste cards. A covered card cannot be selected even if its value would complete a pair.
Use the stock carefully
Draw one stock card at a time onto the waste pile. Only the top waste card is available. When the stock is empty, you may recycle the waste twice, giving at most three passes through the remaining stock cards. Once the final pass is exhausted, the stock cannot be recycled again.
Choose pairs that open the pyramid
If more than one matching card is available, compare what each removal uncovers. A pair that clears both cards beneath an upper card can create another move immediately. A pair that leaves isolated blockers may be less useful. Even a Gentle deal can become blocked after different choices; undo helps you explore another order.
Common reasons a pair will not clear
- One card still has a covering card below it.
- The values do not total thirteen: Jack is eleven, not ten.
- The selected waste card is not the top card.
- You selected the same card twice, which cancels its selection.
What happens when no moves remain?
You can undo to recover a useful pair or draw, replay the starting arrangement, or begin another deal. Gentle mode provides a verified starting solution; Classic shuffle can be unwinnable. There is no loss of lives or fee for trying again.
