Two suits: hearts and spades
This Spider variant uses 104 cards: four copies of every rank in hearts and four in spades. Clear eight complete same-suit runs, each descending from King to Ace. A finished heart run counts exactly as much as a spade run.
Legal placement versus a movable group
You may place a card on the next higher rank in either suit. A heart Jack may sit on a spade Queen. However, those cards cannot move together until the mixed group has been separated. A sequence travels as a unit only when every card follows the rank order in one suit.
If a heart Queen becomes available, moving the heart Jack there can create a matching group. Empty columns give you somewhere to put cards while reorganizing these mixed runs.
Keep your sequences flexible
Before joining different suits, ask where the lower group could go afterward. A mixed placement that reveals a hidden card can be worthwhile; a mixed placement with no exit may consume the space needed for a later move.
When another stock row helps
The stock deals ten cards at once, one per column. It can expose useful ranks but also covers existing sequences. Use available moves first, and fill every empty column before dealing. After five rows the stock is exhausted.
Work through one choice
Suppose an eight of hearts can go onto either a nine of hearts or a nine of spades. The matching nine creates a two-card group you can relocate later. The spade nine is still legal, and may be preferable if it leaves an important column open. Compare the next move, not just the current fit.
Gentle deals include a winning route; Classic shuffle has no guarantee. Hints and undo are available in both. For an easier introduction choose one suit; for more suit planning choose four suits. See the full Spider rules or try FreeCell for a game with all cards visible.
